Helping Hands Helping Lives CIC projects offer an holistic approach to helping selected unemployed Jamaicans, living in poverty take the necessary steps towards an improved economic existence.
Jamaica April 2023
We were in Jamaica in April 2023 where we had the opportunity to do some ground work and make an assessment as to the impact the social enterprise could make in the parish of Portland. Our findings flagged up that 'grey' area whereby a person is working but they still need help and support. We met a lovely warm hearted person in Port Antonio. She works very hard but her main difficulty is that she is technically homeless. At the moment she 'ketches' at a friend's house and her son sleeps in an abandoned car. Housing was a long term aim for Helping Hands Helping Lives CIC but crucially this needs to be considered NOW alongside the other aims of welfare, education and business planning support. It costs a minimum of £5,000 to build a board- house. TARGET: To fund the building of 1 boardhouse before the end of July 2024.
This young lady is self-employed and works hard. However, this means she falls within a grey area that although she works, she still needs help and support. Her main concern is that of getting accommodation as she is technically homeless. There is little in the way of government housing and at the moment she 'ketches' at a friend's house and her son sleeps in an abandoned car.

Although initially housing was a long term plan we envisaged starting 3 to 5 years from now, have decided to commence this project along side the other aims. When we reach our collective target of £30,000, £5,000 will be dedicated to building the first board house for individuals such as this young lady.

HOUSING TARGET £5,000 (£5,000 still left to raise)- the labour and material costs of ONE board house (made of a mixture of bricks and wooden boards) in Jamaica.

TOTAL FUNDRAISING TARGET IS £30,000 by July 2024

Help Us to Create Something Better!
Here at Helping Hands Helping Lives CIC, we see the value in everyone. We want to be a catalyst for positive change, and since our beginnings in January 2023, we’ve been driven by the idea of collective consciousness, same ideas, same need to see change through support, empowerment and progress. Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. Helping Hands Helping Lives CIC, emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community to help others. There are enough resources - it is the disparities of wealth and an impotence to do nothing that is the problem ...

We have a desire for actions to speak louder than words!
